Mediastinal lymphocele following radical esophagogastrectomy.

چکیده
© 2008 Association médicale canadienne C is a rare but recognized complication of esophageal surgery. The close anatomic relation between the esophagus and thoracic duct explains the risk of chylothorax after esophagectomy. We report a rare case of a thoracic lymphocele associated with a chylothorax after radical esophagogastrectomy. This case is unique in that, after a period of conservative management, a large lymphocele developed in the posterior mediastinum and compromised respiratory function. This led to surgical excision of the lymphocele and ligation of the thoracic duct.

Delayed infection of a pelvic lymphocele following robotic radical prostatectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy: two cases.
Pelvic lymphocele is an infrequent complication of pelvic surgery, usually presenting shortly after surgery. We report 2 cases with a delayed infected pelvic lymphocele presenting after transperitoneal pelvic lymphadenectomy and robotic radical prostatectomy for adenocarcinoma of the prostate. These cases illustrate that late infection of pelvic lymphoceles may occur following radical prostatec...
متن کاملDelayed Infection of a Lymphocele following RARP in a Patient with Nonspecific Symptoms
Pelvic lymphoceles are an infrequent complication after pelvic surgery and develop shortly after the surgery in most cases. We experienced a case of delayed infection of a lymphocele 6 months after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) and pelvic lymphadenectomy. In this case, antimicrobial chemotherapy and percutaneous drainage were effective, and there was no recurrence of the disease. ...
متن کاملBilateral Inguinal Lymphoceles Following Robotic Radical Prostatectomy
Introduction: Pelvic lymphoceles are a known complication of pelvic lymph node dissection after robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). However, large symptomatic inguinal lymphoceles after RARP have hitherto not been reported. Case Description: We present the case of a 71-year-old morbidly obese man who developed large, symptomatic, bilateral inguinal lymphoceles after RARP and pelvic l...
متن کاملLymph node metastasis and lymphadenectomy of resectable adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction.
Based on Siewert classification, adenocarcinomas of the esophagogastric junction (AEGs) have different behaviors of perigastric-mediastinal nodal metastasis. Siewert type I AEGs have higher incidence of mediastinal nodal metastasis than those of type II or III, especially at middle-upper mediastinum. With regard to the necessity of mediastinal lymphadenectomy, theoretically, transthoracic esoph...
متن کاملPredictors of symptomatic lymphocele after lymph node excision and radical prostatectomy.
OBJECTIVES To identify the prognostic factors of symptomatic lymphocele. METHODS From January 2004, 359 patients underwent pelvic lymph node excision during radical prostatectomy at our center, of whom, 347 were followed up for > or = 6 months. RESULTS At a median follow-up of 14.5 months (range 6-54), 44 patients had developed a lymphocele (12.6%). In 26 patients (7.4%), it was symptomatic...
